The 2025 ValueJet Preseason Tournament blasted off with shocks, storms, and stalemates as Ikorodu City stunned Shooting Stars, Remo Stars fought off a fierce Kwara United comeback, and Rivers United shared the spoils with Abia Warriors on a drama-packed Matchday 1.
Ikorodu City Clip Shooting Stars in Surprise Opener
The Oga Boys kicked off their ValueJet campaign with a statement 1–0 victory over NPFL side Shooting Stars on Saturday, Footballrover reports.
The Lagos boys showed grit and discipline, frustrating the Oluyole Warriors despite finding the breakthrough early.

Their goal came barely six minutes into the encounter through Joseph Arumala, and that was all that separated both sides.
The result sent early ripples through the preseason, hinting that Ikorodu could be a tricky opponent in the coming season.
They will face Kwara United next, then Remo and Abia Warriors before Rivers United.
Remo Stars Weather Kwara Storm to Secure Win

NPFL defending champions Remo Stars overcame a spirited fightback from Kwara United to claim a 2–1 win at their Ikenne training pitch.
Jerome opened the scoring in the 30th minute, and Victor Mbaoma doubled the lead just seven minutes later.
Kwara’s Babatunde Bright hit back in the 39th minute, setting up a tense second half where Issah Gata twice came close to equalising.

Remo’s goalkeeper stood firm, making crucial saves to preserve the victory.
Rivers United and Abia Warriors in Stalemate

Elsewhere, Rivers United and Abia Warriors played out a goalless draw in a tight encounter.
Both sides created half-chances but lacked the cutting edge to break the deadlock.

What’s Next in the ValueJet Preseason Tournament
Kwara United will face Ikorodu City—fresh from their win over Shooting Stars—on Monday at 2:00 pm.
