It seems the Remo Stars hitman just loves scoring for fun at this moment, as the NPFL joint top scorer, Alimi Sikiru, has openly declared that scoring goals means nothing to him.
Sikiru opened his scoring account of the season with a goal against Enugu Rangers in their opening game of the season, footballrover reports
In the following match, the 27-year-old forward added another goal, contributing to their 2-1 win over Bayelsa United on matchday three.
Sikiru also sealed a 2-1 victory with a spot kick in a home game against Sporting Lagos, marking his third goal of the season.
And then, his MOTM performance in the South West Derby, scoring a brace that led Remo Stars to a convincing 3-0 win over his former club, Shooting Stars, just two days ago.
Despite his remarkable goal-scoring spree, the Sky Blue Stars man remains grounded and focused on improving himself and assisting his team, rather than counting goals.
In a post-match interview with 54footballx after their 3-0 victory, the Remo Stars two-goal South West Derby hero stated,
“Honestly, the goals are nothing to me; I just want to keep getting better and helping my team”.
This weekend, Remo Stars face a challenging match at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium against the current FA Cup holders.
The question on everyone’s mind is whether Sikiru, the former Lobi Stars striker, will maintain his impressive form and find the back of the net against Bendel Insurance. Well, we’ll all find out this Sunday afternoon.
When asked about what fans should expect from him in the upcoming game, Sikiru confidently asserted,
“It’s the same Alimi; I always want to get on the pitch and give my best.”
Remo Stars’ fans can surely anticipate outstanding performances from their top scorer, Sikiru, who currently shares the title of NPFL joint top scorer with five goals, tied with Bayelsa United’s Robert Christian Mizo.
