The CAF Confederation Cup clash saw the Nigerian FA Champions battle tooth and nail against RS Berkane to secure a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

The Benin Gunners initially seized the lead when Imade Osarenkhoe capitalized on a loose ball, following Benjamin Taminu’s fierce shot, finding the net in the 28th minute.

However, RS Berkane quickly responded, with Hamza El Moussaoui equalizing the score ten minutes later, leaving the first half at 1-1.

Under the guidance of Coach Monday Odigie, Bendel Insurance displayed relentless determination and retook the lead in the 65th minute, thanks to Vincent Augustus.

Nonetheless, RS Berkane showcased their resilience once more, leveling the score through Mohamed El Morabit.

He urged Nigerians to appreciate their remarkable performance, especially considering they faced the reigning champions.

Football is all about participating, it’s not about winning. We played against the champions, people should appreciate the performance,” he told the newsmen

Looking ahead, Bendel Insurance FC is gearing up to travel to Morocco for the return leg, set to take place at the Berkane Municipal Stadium in a fortnight.
