Akwa United led by coach Fatai Osho managed to hunt down the Flying Antelopes of Enugu during their pre-season friendly on Saturday, September 16.
The Promise Keepers secured a notable victory as they triumphed 1-0 over Enugu Rangers International FC in an exciting pre-season friendly match
This clash unfolded at the Practice pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
In the first half of the match, Enugu Rangers’ skipper, Chukwudi Nwaodu, came close to finding the net on two occasions.
Meanwhile, Hadi Mohammed and Oshomo tested the visiting team’s goal in a relatively uneventful first half.
Akwa United FC’s Head Coach implemented significant changes for the second half, maintaining the same system that led to their 1-0 victory over Heartland FC earlier in the week.
Much like their win against Heartland FC, the Uyo based team dominated the game in the second half.
They eventually reaped the rewards in the 65th minute when Oguntayo Seyi unleashed a powerful shot from 30 yards, leaving the Rangers’ goalkeeper helpless and securing the match-winning goal.

The final score read Akwa United FC 1-0 Enugu Rangers International FCEnugu Rangers International FC, marking the first pre-season defeat for Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men.
As part of their ongoing pre-season preparations, Rangers International will now pay attention to Nigeria National League side, FC ONE Rocket, ahead of their next friendly game on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 7 am.
The venue for this encounter remains the Practice pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
