Nigerian footballers Mujeeb Murana, Peter Ambrose, and Moses Ebiye all saw action for their respective clubs abroad on Saturday, experiencing a mixed bag of results.
Ambrose Makes Winning Debut:
Peter Ambrose, a newcomer to Aberdeen, made his debut for the club with a victory in their Scottish League Cup match against Queen of the South, Footballrover reports.
The youngster came on as a substitute and could only feature for just 23 minutes at Palmerston Park.
The 22-year-old forward played a solid role in Aberdeen’s dominant 3-0 win, marking a positive start to his Scottish adventure.
However, Graeme Shinnie’s goal in the 23rd minute and Ester Sokler’s brace in the first half sealed the victory for the visiting team.
Ebiye Features in Motherwell’s Cup Win:
Midfielder Moses Ebiye featured for Motherwell FC as they kicked off their 2024/25 season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Edinburgh City in the Scottish League Cup.
Ebiye played a supporting role in the midfield, helping Motherwell control the game and secure a comfortable home win at Fir Park.
In his ninety minutes of play, the 27-year-old Nigerian forward attempted more than five shots, one of which hit the target but produced no goal.
Kofi Balmer scored the opening goal in the first period of the League Cup Group G matchday one match; Dan Casey and Stephen O’Donnell added goals within five minutes to ensure the victory.
Murana’s Miami FC Falters Despite Assist:
Winger Mujeeb Murana had a bittersweet performance for Miami FC in their USL Championship encounter against Rhode Island FC.
While Murana provided a crucial assist for his team’s only goal, Miami FC ultimately fell short, suffering a disappointing 2-3 home defeat.
In his ninety minutes of action, the 23-year-old right-back won ten duels and three tackles, leading to a strong defensive performance as Miami FC lost awfully at home on matchday 19 of the USI Championship.
The visitors found the net early on through Frank Nodarse before Albert Dikwa doubled the lead heading into the first half break.
Rhode Island FC resumed the second half with yet another goal as Albert Dikwa quickly doubled his tally just three minutes in to make it 3-0.
Before the home team managed to rally around to score two goals through Frank Lopez and Roberto Molina, the visiting side held on to seal off the win.
