Two Nigerian stars, Christopher Nwaeze and Udo Ndon, came to the rescue of their team, FC Milsami, on Thursday evening.

They each grabbed a goal to inspire a hard-fought victory over Virtus during their UEFA Conference League qualification series, Footballrover reports.

The 1st Leg of the Round 3 clash had everything—goals, red cards, and late drama—as the Moldova team, finishing the game with nine players, still managed to grind out the much-needed victory in front of their home fans over the San Marino side.

How the Nigerian Stars Orchestrated a Dramatic Comeback

While Nwaeze opened the scoring for the home team, Ndon came off the bench to score the winning goal, brushing their visitors aside with a 3-2 win at the Stadionul Zimbru.

Just as Nwaeze and Ndon inspired the team to this well-deserved victory, another Nigerian, Oladotun Olatunde-Matthew, also featured in the game but was only introduced in the 90th minute to replace Abdoul Yoda.

The 22-year-old midfielder Ndon, now in his third season, will be hoping to make the best of his time this year, as he has only registered six goals in 29 appearances for the team.

Nwaeze struck on 31 minutes to put the hosts ahead, but their momentum wobbled just before halftime when Andrei Cobet was sent off, leaving the home team with ten players.

Six minutes after the restart, Stefano Scappini levelled the scores. This set the stage for substitute Udo Ndon to inspire a fresh push after replacing Radu Ginsari.

His presence was felt immediately as Nabil Khali restored Milsami’s lead on 62 minutes.

The visitors fought back through Scappini’s penalty in the 73rd minute. When Frederick Takyi received a second yellow in the 83rd, Milsami was down to nine men.

Just as a draw seemed certain, Ndon popped up in the 89th minute to smash home the winner.

The two sides will lock horns again on the 14th for the decisive second leg, but before that, Milsami will turn their focus to Sunday’s Super Liga clash with Zimbru Chisinau.
