Rangers FC’s head coach, Philippe Clement, has praised Cyriel Dessers’ recent standout and soaring performances, highlighting the player’s significant progress and discussing the club’s future plans.
Recall that since his high-profile move from Cremonese in the summer, the Super Eagles star Dessers has faced challenges settling in at Ibrox, Footballrover reports.
However, the Rangers manager has observed a notable improvement in the Nigerian forward’s game since assuming leadership of the Light Blues.
Although the 29-year-old forward has scored four goals in his last eight league appearances for the Gers this season, his impact extends beyond the domestic league.
He notably struck a superb goal during Rangers’ 3-2 UEFA Europa League away victory against Real Betis.

Moreover, Dessers also played a crucial role in securing Rangers’ 24th Scottish League Cup title, contributing a full 90 minutes to their 1-0 win over Aberdeen last weekend.
Despite these strides, Philippe Clement emphasised that definitive judgements about a player’s ability shouldn’t be rushed, stating that three months might not be sufficient to fully assess a player’s potential.
While addressing Dessers’ progress, Clement said that:
“Cyriel Dessers is improving; he scored last weekend and also on Thursday against Betis. It is my job to make choices, together with a board, of what we should do in January to strengthen the core,” the Rangers coach said.
Looking ahead, Dessers is set to feature yet again as Rangers face St. Johnstone in a league clash on Wednesday, continuing his quest to make an impact on the team.
