Super sub, Yusuf Otubanjo came off the bench to score in FC Pyunik’s big away victory during their Armenian Premier League clash against Lernayin Artsakh on Thursday.
The Yegishe Melikyan’s team received a major boost from Yusuf Otubanjo as they easily outclassed and crushed their hosts 6-0 at the Vayk Stadium,
Before the Nigerian player came into the game, the visiting FC Pyunik already had a three-goal advantage. He had an immediate impact by adding his name to the scoresheet as well.
Edgar Malakyan scored the opening goal from a penalty kick just 10 minutes into the match, giving the visitors a quick start.
With only 32 on the clock, Hovhannes Harutyunyan doubled the score from the penalty kick as well.
Jonel Desire increased the score to 3-0 for the Pyuniks six minutes later, before Yusuf Otubanjo added his own goal in the 64th minute.
Things only got worse for Lernayin Artsakh as Artak Dashyan also found the back of the net in the 70th minute before Mikhail Kovalenko completely sealed the win and all three points 14 minutes later.
The 30-year-old Nigerian, Yusuf Otubanjo, has scored 10 goals in 18 games for Pyunik across all competitions, and he will be hoping to continue the trend when they take on BKMA on April 1.
As a result of the victory, FC Pyunik has 49 points from 24 games and has climbed to third place in the Armenian Premier League, just 10 points behind league-leading Urartu.
Whereas Lernayin Artsakh, the home team, will be striving to reassemble their bones as they continue to sit third from the bottom of the standings with only 21 points.
