Leicester City ace Wilfred Ndidi has singled out one legendary player as the toughest player he has ever faced in his football career.
The Super Eagles star, who recently made his 200th appearances for Leicester, has gone head-to-head with some of the world’s best, but it’s a Chelsea icon who stands out in his memory, Footballrover reports.
So, who is this elusive figure, and what made him such a formidable challenge for Ndidi?
The midfielder revealed that former Chelsea forward Eden Hazard is the player he found most difficult to handle.
Ndidi recalled how Hazard’s agility and speed on the pitch left him with little time to react.
The toughest player Wilfred Ndidi has faced
“Eden Hazard. He’s so good. He was so strong, and he was so sharp,” the Super Eagles star told English Premier League’s YouTube channel.
”When you’re getting close to him, he can just change direction and then change direction. He’s so sharp; before you realise it, he’s gone,” Ndidi added.
While Hazard’s career in Spain may not have lived up to expectations due to injuries, the legacy he left behind in the Premier League was clearly huge.
At Chelsea, Hazard was regarded as one of the most fearful attacking players in Europe, effortlessly weaving through defenses with his mesmerizing ball control and quick acceleration.
And for Ndidi, his remarkable consistency and defensive prowess have made him a fixture in Leicester’s lineup, with over 230 league appearances under his belt.
As the Super Eagles prepare for crucial AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, Ndidi will be looking to lead his team with the same resolute determination that he has shown in every challenge.
