It wasn’t such a pleasant day at the office for Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen as he endured a frustrating evening in Galatasaray’s convincing victory over Bodrumspor on Friday night in the Turkish Super Lig.
Despite playing 86 minutes, the Napoli loanee failed to convert several key opportunities, as the Galatasaray clash against Bodrumspor ended in a 2-0 home win for the league leaders at RAMS Park, Footballrover reports.
Chance after chance: Osimhen’s tough night in front of goal
Coming into the clash in red-hot form with 29 goals and five assists across all competitions, Victor Osimhen looked ready to add to his tally. But things didn’t go as planned.
The 26-year-old forward missed four big chances, had one shot blocked, and touched the ball 15 times inside the opponent’s box—yet could not find the back of the net before being replaced by Berkan Kutlu.
Despite his misfiring, Galatasaray’s outing against Bodrumspor was anything but dull.
Lucas Torreira opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a bullet header into the top corner after a well-placed free kick from Gabriel Sara.
Galatasaray seal third straight win, stay top of the table
The second half followed a similar rhythm. Galatasaray, determined to stay ahead in the title race, doubled their lead late in the 81st minute.
A sublime lofted pass from Yunus Akgun found Davinson Sanchez, who rose high and steered in a clinical header beyond the reach of Bodrumspor goalkeeper Diogo Sousa.
Victor Osimhen may have fired blanks, but Galatasaray against Bodrumspor ended with yet another crucial win for the Istanbul giants.
They now sit atop the Turkish Super Lig table with 77 points after 30 matches.
With six games remaining, Galatasaray are firmly in the driving seat. Their next test in the league comes on Sunday, April 27, against Eyüpspor.
But first, they’ll shift focus to the Turkish Cup clash with Konyaspor on Tuesday.
