There was tension in the air at Stadion Lokomotiv on Friday evening, but when Botev Plovdiv needed a hero, Ehije Ukaki answered the call.
The 20-year-old Nigerian winger continued his impressive form in the Bulgarian First League, scoring a crucial equaliser to help his side escape defeat in a dramatic 1-1 draw with Lokomotiv Sofia, Footballrover reports.
The high-stakes clash, part of Round 30 action, saw both sides lock horns with intensity.
However, it was Ehije Ukaki’s calm presence and exciting finish that made the difference—his sixth goal of the season and one that kept Botev Plovdiv’s European hopes alive.

After a goalless first half, the second period roared to life. Lokomotiv Sofia’s French defender Mamadou Diarra broke the deadlock just four minutes after the restart, unleashing a stunning bicycle kick that left the goalkeeper rooted.
However, Botev’s response was swift. Just minutes later, Samuel Akere—another Nigerian talent—initiated a move from the right flank.
Though he arrived late in the box, Andrei Yordanov’s sharp low cross found Ehije Ukaki in the perfect position.
With composure beyond his years, Ukaki slotted the ball past the keeper—a sharp but hot strike that levelled the score in the 57th minute.

While Akere put in a solid shift for 83 minutes and should have bagged an assist at least before being replaced by Vinni Triboulet, the night truly belonged to Ehije Ukaki.
His goal not only earned Botev a crucial point but also revealed his role as the team’s go-to man in tense moments.
With this result, Botev Plovdiv now sit in 5th place with 49 points, keeping their aspirations alive in the First Professional Football League.
Lokomotiv Sofia, on the other hand, continues to struggle in 12th place, trailing 19 points behind.
