Former U23 star David Okereke has made a bold move with a switch to Turkish side Gaziantep FK, leaving behind Italian club Cremonese.
The 27-year-old forward joins Gaziantep FK on a season-long loan, with an option for the Turkish club to make the move permanent next summer, footballrover reports.
The deal, sealed after negotiations between Gaziantep FK and Cremonese, brings the Nigerian forward to the Turkish Super Lig, where he’s set to bring his pace, strength, and clinical finishing to his new team.
Okereke was unveiled in a signing ceremony attended by Gaziantep FK President Memik Yılmaz, Vice President İbrahim Dicle, Football Branch Manager Mustafa Kara, and board member İskender Kaplan, marking the official start of his journey with the club.
The Lagos-born footballer’s career kicked off at Abuja College here in Nigeria, and his talent quickly propelled him to Europe, where he joined Italian Serie A side Spezia Calcio in 2016.
By 2019, he had earned a €9 million transfer to Belgian giants Club Brugge, where he displayed a splash of his potential for over two seasons.
In 2022, Okereke moved to Cremonese for a fee of just €2.5 million, returning to Serie A.

Known for his explosive speed, physicality, and keen eye for goal, he has also gained experience in the prestigious UEFA Champions League, appearing seven times on Europe’s grandest stage.
Over the course of his career, Okereke has featured in 268 matches, scoring 57 goals and providing 26 assists, and he’s now ready to light up the Turkish Super Lig with Gaziantep FK.
