Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has dismissed transfer rumours linking him with a summer move away from Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk.
Tolu Arokodare is staying put at KRC Genk, despite swirling speculation this summer, Footballrover reports.
Reports have linked Arokodare to former Turkish Super Lig champions Trabzonspor, who are reportedly eager to bring the Nigerian forward on board.
However, Arokodare has made it clear that his focus is solely on his current club.
“There are still matches to come. Next week we play against Beerschot. I’m focused on that and not on rumors. I have a contract with Genk, and I will respect that by doing my job,” Arokodare stated confidently.
In an interview with HLN, he noted that only players contemplating retirement know when they’re playing their last match.
Arokodare claimed that he has no intentions of making his next game his last for Genk.
This season, Arokodare has already made a significant impact, netting two goals in two league appearances for Thorsten Fink’s side.
His back-to-back goals in the Belgian Pro League also highlight his current form and importance to the team.

Meanwhile, Genk’s head coach, Thorsten Fink, is adamant about keeping Arokodare at the club.
Fink has expressed his desire to have the striker stay beyond the summer, praising Arokodare as the best striker in Belgium.
He insists that Tolu must consistently show the passion and drive he exhibited in the clash against Club Brugge.
“I’m convinced I can get the best out of him,” Fink declared.
He added that Arokodare is well aware of his coach’s belief in him.
Fink hopes to convince Arokodare to remain at Genk, stressing the challenge of finding a striker of his calibre for under €10 million.
He did concede, though, that the club would only consider letting him go if a substantial offer comes in and if Arokodare expressed a desire to leave.
With Arokodare seemingly committed and the manager publicly expressing his desire to retain him, it appears the Nigerian striker will be staying put at KRC Genk for the foreseeable future.
