Galatasaray finally lifted the Turkish Cup for the first time in six years, thanks to a stunning Victor Osimhen brace in the final against Trabzonspor at the Gaziantep Stadium on Wednesday evening.
With the pressure of silverware mounting, manager Okan Buruk and the Galatasaray faithful turned to their Nigerian talisman once again—and Osimhen delivered in grand style, Footballrover reports.
The 25-year-old forward scored the second and third goals in Galatasaray’s dominant 3-0 victory to seal their place in history once more.
Osimhen’s brace in the Cup final dominates headlines
Barış Alper Yılmaz opened the scoring for Galatasaray just five minutes into the game after connecting with a fine pass from Yunus Akgün, firing into the bottom left corner.
The early lead set the tone, but it was Osimhen’s brilliance in the second half that truly stole the show.
Shortly after the restart, Osimhen expertly controlled another pass from Akgün at the edge of the box.
With composure and precision, he smashed the ball into the bottom right corner to double Galatasaray’s lead.
Then, in the 63rd minute, the Nigerian striker added his second of the night—receiving a short pass, dribbling past his marker, and firing an unstoppable shot into the top left corner to complete his brace in the Turkish Cup final.
Osimhen goals vs Trabzonspor secure Galatasaray Turkish Cup 2025 glory
The win marks Galatasaray’s 19th Turkish Cup title and their first since the 2018/19 season.
Osimhen, who had just one assist in his three previous Galatasaray Turkish Cup 2025 appearances, finished with five goals in the competition.
Across all competitions this season, the Super Eagles star has tallied an incredible 35 goals and 8 assists in 39 matches—an elite return that has justified every ounce of faith placed in him.
Fellow Nigerian Anthony Nwakaeme thought he had pulled one back for Trabzonspor in the 74th minute, but his goal was ruled out for offside, denying any hopes of a comeback.
With the Turkish Cup final highlights now in the memory of fans, Galatasaray edges closer to a domestic double as they lead the race for a third straight Turkish Super Lig title.
