Victor Osimhen has urged his Galatasaray teammates to stay locked in on their title goal despite a painful 4-1 defeat to Samsunspor in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Super Eagles striker faced a difficult outing but remained defiant about the club’s chances of finishing the job, Footballrover reports.
Victor Osimhen stays focused despite Galatasaray setback
The Nigerian international made an early impact, setting up Yunus Akgün for the opening goal just nine minutes into the game.
It looked like Galatasaray were on track, but momentum quickly shifted as Samsunspor fought back strongly.
The striker’s night took a negative turn in the second half when a misplaced back pass led to a major setback, contributing to the sending off of goalkeeper Günay Güvenç.
From that point, Galatasaray struggled to recover as the game slipped away.
Despite the heavy loss, Victor Osimhen refused to let the result define the team’s season.
“Let’s not get stuck on this game. We have to keep going,” Victor said via Fotomac.
Osimhen sends strong message in Galatasaray title race
The 27-year-old forward made it clear that the focus remains firmly on the bigger picture — winning the league title.
The forward stressed that one poor result should not derail months of hard work.
“We need to win at home and declare the championship. Nothing has changed. The team will give everything. We’ll focus on the next match.”
Osimhen acknowledged the team’s shortcomings on the night and did not shy away from taking responsibility alongside his teammates.
“We knew it wouldn’t be that easy to win the title here. We didn’t play well either. We will win our next match at home and officially secure the championship. We apologise to the fans. We will look ahead,” he added.
Even with the setback, Osimhen’s overall campaign remains impressive.
The striker has delivered 20 goals and eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions, proving his importance to Galatasaray’s title charge.
