Southampton boss, Russell Martin, has heaped praise on Super Eagles star Joe Aribo for his stellar performance against Birmingham City on Saturday.
The Nigerian international showcased his brilliance by scoring the decisive goal in stoppage time, securing a hard-earned victory for Southampton, Footballrover reports.
Aribo came off the bench to clinch the winning goal in Southampton’s thrilling 4-3 away triumph at St Andrew’s.
The midfielder expertly slotted the ball home from close range to mark his third goal in 24 league appearances for the South Coast club this season.
Speaking after the game, Coach Martin, expressing his admiration for the player’s impact saying,
“The lads love him, the fans love him. Hopefully, everyone’s really seeing what he has to offer,” coach Martin told the club’s official website.
Reflecting on Aribo’s recent performance against Liverpool, Martin praised the player’s outstanding contribution, despite his exhaustion from a lack of recent match fitness.

Martin emphasised not only Aribo’s remarkable skills but also his exceptional character, describing him as an asset to the team both on and off the pitch.
Martin revealed that he had assured Aribo of an opportunity to shine, despite uncertainties, and the player seized the moment when it arrived, delivering when it mattered most.
“He’s a brilliant player and an even better character, and for him to score the goal – I said to him there’ll be a chance for you at some point,” he said.
With 70 points from 35 games, Southampton currently occupies the fourth spot in the table, demonstrating their strong performance this season.
