The Nigerian International, who was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch for Villarreal, became a handful for their opponents’ defense throughout the duration of the match.

It was in the midst of the sustained pressure by Villarreal that forced Real Sociedad defender David Silva to hack down Samuel Chukwueze inside the 18-yard box.

Chukwueze had waltzed through three defenders of Real Sociedad in the 76th minute of the second half before he was brought down in the critical goal area.

The referee, Jesus Gil Manzano, signaled a penalty, which Dani Parejo easily converted for Villarreal’s first goal of the match.

Nicolas Jackson, who substituted Ramon Terrats in the 61st minute of the second half, increased the tally to two for Villarreal in the 81st minute of the encounter.

Samuel Chukwueze almost made it 3-0 for Villarreal eight minutes later when left-winger Yeremy Pino set him up, but he shot wide with Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro at his mercy.

With the 2-0 victory against 4th-placed Real Sociedad, Villarreal are now 6th on the La Liga table with 44 points after 27 matches, while their visitors are just four points ahead with 48 points.
