The Nantes star, named Man of the Match for the second time in the tournament, played a key role, setting up Ademola Lookman’s decisive goal with a mazy run and pinpoint pass, Footballrover reports.
“I feel very happy, but the most important thing is the victory. We want to put the team first and get wins,” the 28-year-old emphasised in his post-match press conference.

His selfless approach exemplified the Super Eagles’ spirit. When asked about his thought process before the assist, Simon revealed,
“I wanted to find Lookman, Victor, or even go for the goal myself, but at this point we don’t have to be selfish.”
Despite Victor Osimhen’s goal being disallowed for offside, Simon assured everyone of the striker’s positive mindset.
He declared that the mood is great in the camp, stressing that the Nigerian side doesn’t dwell on individual stats.
