OGC Nice head coach Franck Haise has showered Nigerian forward Terem Moffi with praise following his final-day goal in Ligue 1.
The coach highlighted Terem Moffi’s contribution, especially considering the team navigated a tough season, Footballrover reports.
Terem Moffi’s tough season goal: A symbol of resilience
The Nigerian international faced a significant setback, missing the first twenty-six league games for OGC Nice due to recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained during pre-season.
Despite this, his late-season return proved crucial.
On Saturday night, at the Allianz Riviera, OGC Nice delivered a resounding 6-0 victory against Stade Brestois, securing a commendable fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 and a spot in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds.
Coming off the bench in the 78th minute, Terem Moffi displayed his scoring prowess, slotting in Niceβs fifth goal after beating the Brest goalkeeper.
Nice’s fourth-place achievement is particularly noteworthy given the campaign’s challenges, marked by numerous injuries and setbacks.
However, the team displayed remarkable resilience and determination to cross the finish line successfully.
Moffi’s late contributions, including his last season goal, were undoubtedly vital in this achievement.
Speaking on OGC Nice’s official website, Franck Haise emphasised the collective effort but specifically credited the players.
“With the club’s employees, the staff β even if there will be changes β everyone worked well; the players too, obviously. It’s to them that we must give the biggest credit, like Terem (Moffi) and his goal,” Haise stated.
Why Moffi’s tough season goal earned “biggest credit”
Haise further elaborated on the significance of Moffi’s goal, saying,
“It’s symbolic, because we lost players very seriously to injury; we lost others at the end of the season. Our season was really difficult. The taste of finishing fourth, with everything we’ve been through, is quite strong.”
Terem Moffi was included in OGC Nice’s squad for the final eight Ligue 1 matches, making five appearances as a substitute, ultimately contributing to their successful finish.
