Samuel Chukwueze finally had his breakthrough moment in Serie A on Friday night, delivering his first Serie A assist of the season in AC Milan’s thrilling 3-1 comeback win over Bologna at the San Siro.
Chukwueze’s revival sparks Milan’s European charge
The Super Eagles winger came off the bench in the 65th minute, replacing Alex Jiménez, Footballrover reports.
What followed was a lively and decisive cameo that ended his 65-day goal contribution drought—his last involvement was a strike on March 2 in a 2-1 loss to Lazio.
Since then, Chukwueze had endured 10 games without scoring or assisting, including six in which he wasn’t played at all.
AC Milan had fallen behind just after halftime when Riccardo Orsolini buried a low finish into the far corner.
But Milan’s response was swift. With Bologna making a triple substitution, Milan manager Sérgio Conceição countered with changes of his own, bringing on Santiago Giménez and Samuel Chukwueze.
First Serie A assist lifts the San Siro crowd
Chukwueze injected immediate urgency. His clever movement and confident dribbling helped stretch Bologna’s backline.
In the 79th minute, he beat Charalampos Lykogiannis on the flank and sent a teasing pass into the box.
Though João Félix’s effort was blocked, Christian Pulisic pounced and smashed it home to make it 2-1.
Then, deep into stoppage time, Chukwueze delivered a perfectly timed ball for Giménez to seal the win, recording his first assist in the Italian league and seventh goal contribution of the season.
For AC Milan, it was more than just three points—it kept their top-four hopes alive and highlighted Chukwueze’s readiness to make a difference.
