Rivers United, the former Nigeria Premier League Champions, has made significant changes to its squad as they prepare for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign.

The Port Harcourt-based club has decided to part ways with over 10 players, paving the way for a fresh start and new talent to join their ranks.

This strategic move comes after the team bid farewell to two senior players whose contracts expired at the end of the previous season.

With these developments, Rivers United is set to embark on a challenging journey as they kick off their campaign later today in the highly anticipated Naija Super 8 clash.

Among the released players are;

Bolaji Sakin ( forward)
Ihunda Chigozie (right full back)
Madu Chiamaka (central Midfielder)
Fabian Nworie (center back)
Darlinton Ovunda (goalkeeper)
Malachi Ohawume (center forward)
Akpesiri Nalbe (right winger)
Francis Ifeanyi (center forward)
Kenechukwu Agu (attacking Midfielder) and Chukwudi Lawrence, a right winger, complete the list of players departing from Rivers United.

Before the recent releases, Rivers United experienced the departure of two senior players whose contracts had expired.

Ndasi Denis, a 29-year-old defender, decided to continue his career with Rwanda’s APR FC after spending two successful years with Rivers United.

While Morice Chukwu chose not to renew his contract, making him a free agent in the market.
