The 23-year-old marksman, who emerged as the top scorer in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2023 season, leaves the Prosperity Boys after a six-year spell that saw him contribute significantly to the club’s rise to prominence.

Mizo’s impressive tally of 19 goals in 2023, coupled with his 9 goals from the previous campaign, caught the eye of Al Hilal, who have secured his services until 2027, Footballrover reports.

The prolific forward bid an emotional farewell to the NPFL following Bayelsa United’s matchday 17 clash against Shooting Stars of Ibadan, where he featured for one last time.

Mizo’s journey with Bayelsa United began in 2017, when he joined the club while it was still competing in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

He played a key role in their 2021 Aiteo Cup triumph and the subsequent promotion to the top flight, scoring crucial goals along the way.

His talent and dedication earned him the admiration of fans and coaches, with a lot of NPFL fans hoping he’d join their team, mostly Rivers United and Sporting Lagos fans.

Bayelsa United, in a statement posted on their social media platforms, expressed their gratitude to Mizo and wished him success in his new endeavour.

“We wish him success at his new club, Al Hilal, in his quest for greatness, and we equally wish you a productive stay that will see you earn a National Team call-up soon,” the club wrote.

Mizo’s departure marks a significant moment for both Bayelsa United and the NPFL.
