In a major boost for 2023/24 campaign, Rivers United has officially unveiled Evans Ogenyi as their new Chief Coach, filling the void left by Fatai Osho at the end of the season.
The new Chief Coach was officially unveiled on Wednesday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in the presence Rivers United fans.
Rivers United also took to their official Twitter page to announce the arrival of the seasoned coach, saying;
“We’re delighted to announce Evans Ogenyi has joined the club as our Chief Coach.”
Ogenyi brings a wealth of experience to the table, having previously managed reputable clubs such as Warri Wolves, Lobi Stars, and most recently, Kano Pillars, where he successfully guided them back to the NPFL.
Upon his appointment, Ogenyi expressed his excitement, stating that it was really an easy decision to join the coaching set-up at the Pride of Rivers.
He admitted that he spoke to Coach Stanley Eguma before making the move, adding that it is an exciting time to become part of the great team, and he is looking forward to working with everyone more closely on and off the pitch.
Coach Evans also acknowledged that he loves the club, and it was such a great feeling join the Port Harcourt outfit.
“After speaking with Coach Stanley Eguma, it was a really easy decision to join the coaching set-up here. It’s an exciting time to become part of this great team, and I’m looking forward to working with everyone more closely on and off the pitch. I love this club, and it’s such a great feeling to be here,” he told Footballrover
With Osho’s departure to Akwa United, Rivers United is placing its trust in Evans Ogenyi to lead the team to further success and heights in the coming seasons.
