Whyte Ogbonda, the head coach of Rivers Angels, has declared that his team is highly prepared to take down any rival that stands in their path of bringing home the 2024 President Federation Cup.
Coach Whyte Ogbonda made this statement following his team’s convincing victory over Osun Babes on Wednesday, which propelled them to the FA Cup semi-finals, Footballrover reports.
In a lopsided quarterfinal match, the Whyte Ogbonda team displayed a five-side performance, completely dominating their opponents.
The Port Harcourt ladies defeated their opponents at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium thanks to a great performance by Blessing Okpe and Olamide Adugbe.
While Blessing bagged a hat-trick, her counterpart notched a brace to seal off the deal.
The notion that Osun Babes are an inferior opponent was refuted by coach Ogbonda, who lauded the team for their solid performance despite the 5-0 victory.
“My girls did their best to ensure we qualified for the semi-finals. We narrowly lost the league title, but they did well today,” he said.
Ogbonda praised Osun Babes for their perseverance in making it to the quarterfinals but declared that his team is like wounded lions, and as such, they are ready to put up with any kind of challenge in order to win the President Federation Cup.
Following the massive victory, the Jewels of Rivers will now prepare for a South-South derby as they look to face their bitter rivals, Delta Queens, in the semi-finals clash at the Awka Stadium.
Meanwhile, in the second semi-final, Naija Ratels will tackle Remo Stars Ladies after both sides edged out FC Robo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons on penalties, respectively.
