Azango’s first-half magic propels Spartak to victory
At the Štadión MFK Ružomberok, Azango struck in the 32nd minute to give his side an early edge.
The 27-year-old’s decisive finish marked his third league goal of the season, adding to his growing tally that also includes an assist.
Despite enjoying only 45% possession, the visiting side managed 12 attempts on goal, with five on target, showcasing their efficiency in the attacking third.
Meanwhile, The Eagles, despite controlling 55% of possession, could only muster two shots on target from seven attempts, struggling to break through Trnava’s disciplined defence.
Second-half decider and league standings
The second half remained tightly contested, with neither side finding clear chances until stoppage time.
In the fifth minute of additional time, Michal Duris sealed the victory for the visitors with a late goal, doubling their advantage and extinguishing any hopes of a Ružomberok comeback.
The win secured The Red and Whites’ position in third place on the Slovak Super Liga table with 33 points from 17 matches.
“We broke the unfavorable streak with Ružomberok and won on their soil after four long years,” the club said.
They boast an impressive record of nine wins, six draws, and two losses and remain nine points behind league leaders Slovan Bratislava.
