Phil Foden and Erling Haaland were at the top of game during the Manchester Derby, both grabbing a hat-trick as Manchester City beat rival Manchester United 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium.
Man City got back to work and found themselves four points behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League after the international break.
Pep Guardiola wanted his squad to continue from where they left off before the break – their unbeaten start to the season, which included a recent 3-0 victory against Wolves, .
And prior to the international break, United, on the other end, established their momentum, earning Marcus Rashford the player of the month title and Ten Hag the manager of the month award for September.
The Red Devils overcame their problems at the beginning of the season to win four straight games, including a 3-1 victory over Arsenal in their most recent game, which was a month ago.
But Ten Hag and his Red Army encountered a formidable obstacle today, and it is possible from their abysmal performance that they are not yet prepared to battle for the top four.

At halftime of their Manchester Derby at the Etihad, City had a commanding 4-0 lead over the Red Devils.
Phil Foden and Erling Haaland each scored twice to give the home team a commanding lead and, of course, a third consecutive triumph over their opponents while playing excellent football.
United was behind right away and needed to put forth a tremendous work in the second half to save a humiliating outcome.
Haaland was being his typical predatory self, scoring his 12th and 13th goals of the season, both in the first half, as City excelled in the final third.
