Romelu Lukaku ended his mini goal drought today after helping Chelsea secure a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough during their FA Cup quarter final at the Riverside Stadium.
Middlesbrough made an early impression, ensuring a constant high press and pushing Chelsea into a couple of errors.
Due to a lack of sharpness on the part of Wilder’s team, Chelsea were able to relax into the game and establish control.
The visitors’ confidence was substantially boosted by a goal after only 15 minutes.

After Middlesbrough’s push broke down, Ziyech’s pass down the right played Mount into space.
The 23-year-old dribbles into the penalty area and sends a low cross to the outside of the six-yard box, where Lukaku nonchalantly turns the ball into the net.

Romelu Lukaku is back ahead of Havertz as Chelsea’s top scorer outright on 12 goals for the season.
Lukaku has now scored 16 goals in 23 Emirates FA Cup appearances:
◎ Everton (7)
◎ Man Utd (6)
◉ Chelsea (3)
Both of his last two goals for the Blues have come in this competition. ⚽️⚽️
Ziyech’s clever and dipping strike provided the second for the Blues 16 minutes later.
After cutting inside and firing a vicious sinking shot from outside the penalty area, Ziyech’s shot had an unusual path, skipping past Lumley’s outstretched glove.
The home side failed to challenge Mendy, with Tavernier’s curling free-kick being the closest the hosts came to clamping down on the Senegalese international in the first half.

Middlesbrough came out better in the second half, pressing on, dominating, and and had couple of chances to score, but the damage had already been done in the first half.
The Thomas Tuchel team won 2-0, securing a place in the semi-finals while also extending their winning streak and clean sheet streak against Middlesbrough.
Let's get back to it, Chels! 😁
