Gambia’s star striker Isatou Jallow has emerged from a two-year injury-induced hiatus to ink a deal with the prestigious Nigerian Women Premier League powerhouse, Bayelsa Queens.
Jallow, a former standout of the Gambian Police Force FC, is set to reignite her football career with the dynamic Bayelsa Queens squad.
The announcement was met with a wave of excitement as Bayelsa Queens took to their official social media platforms to declare,
“We’re excited to announce that Jallow Isatou, the talented Attacker from the Gambia national team and former player of Gambian Police Force FC, has joined Bayelsa Queens FC. She has arrived in Bayelsa State and is already blending in fast with the team. We can’t wait to see her in action.”
Reflecting on her momentous signing with the NWFL side, Isatou Jallow expressed profound gratitude to the Gambia Football Federation for their immense support during her injury-marred journey.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Jallow said;
“I’m happy, and I’m so excited to return to playing football again. It was so frustrating because I’ve sat for two years without playing football. I never thought I would return on the pitch to play football again. Praise be to Allah that GFF came and took the lead to fund my surgery in 2022, leading to my recovery.“
She stressed that;
“The GFf have been supporting me throughout my recovery. If I returned to playing football is thanks to the GFF, and I would forever be grateful to them.”
Affectionately known as Isatou Basse within her circle, a nod to her hometown Basse, she also extended her gratitude to fellow Gambia internationals Musa Barrow and Omar Colley.
“I’m sure Musa Barrow and Omar Colley would be very glad when they see that I have signed a contract. They, too, have contributed to my surgery and recovery. I know they will be happy to see me return to playing football again,” she said.
Maintaining a deep sense of loyalty, Jallow acknowledged the foundational role played by her local club, Police FC.
“My local club Police FC made me what am today and I must thank the team and management for the continued support during the course of my career,” Jallow expressed with sincerity.
As she steps into the spotlight donning the revered colors of Bayelsa Queens, Isatou Jallow exudes determination to embrace the challenges that lie ahead.
“I’m ready for the challenge, and I want to return to the national team to repay the support received from the GFF. Would give my best to make the GFF proud,” she declared emphatically.
Isatou Jallow’s induction into the Bayelsa Queens fold follows hot on the heels of the recent introduction of compatriot goalkeeper Matty Manga.
