AFCON Qualifiers: Ikpeba reveals Super Eagles' 5 hidden advantages against Libya

Victor Ikpeba, Nigerian football legend, has expressed huge confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to secure back-to-back victories against Libya in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Speaking on Supersport’s Monday Night Football, Ikpeba laid out his reasons for believing Nigeria will emerge victorious in both encounters.

According to the former player, the Super Eagles squad boasts a wealth of talent that should be more than enough to overcome the Mediterranean Knights, especially considering Libya’s reliance on defensive tactics.

He emphasised that the Eagles has the firepower to dominate Libya over both legs.

The Super Eagles have what it takes to punish Libya in both legs,” he said.

Super Eagles fired up to punish Libya after World Cup setbacks

Ikpeba noted that the Super Eagles are motivated by recent criticisms and are eager to make a statement.

The Super Eagles are fed up with the criticisms after the World Cup qualifiers, they now want to get it right,” Ikpeba said.

Ikpeba also pointed out that while Libya will likely try to play defensively and focus on counterattacks, Nigeria’s attacking depth should be able to break through, even if Libya puts up a formidable resistance.

You have to respect Libya, they will come down to defend with their lives and rely on counter attacks,” Ikpeba stressed.

Ikpeba hinted that Libya’s key players missing the match could make a significant difference, reducing the North Africans’ chances of holding Nigeria at bay.

This, he added, is why the Super Eagles should not overly concern themselves with the opponent’s situation but instead focus on their game plan.

They may be missing some key players, but we shouldn’t bother ourselves with what is going on with them. So, we should do the job on Friday and that will lead us to another win in Libya,” he concluded.

Nigeria will host the first leg of the double-header in Abuja on Friday, before traveling to Benina for the return fixture just four days later.
