Super Eagles star Frank Onyeka has delivered his first goal contribution of the season, grabbing an assist to inspire Brentford to a well-deserved victory over Bournemouth during their EFL Cup round 2 clash on Tuesday night.

The 27-year-old Nigerian midfielder, who put in a man-of-the-match performance, provided the second goal of the encounter—his first assist of the season—as Brentford cruised past their hosts 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium, Footballrover reports.

Onyeka was in action for 86 minutes before being replaced by Yehor Yarmoliuk, while his compatriot Michael Kayode came into the game 14 minutes into the second half to replace Antoni Milambo.

The visitors started strongly when Fábio Carvalho’s left-footed shot from the center of the box found the bottom right corner of the net, handing them the lead 34 minutes into the game.

He was assisted by Kristoffer Ajer with a headed pass following a set-piece situation.

Henry drilled a diagonal ball to the edge of the area, which Ajer nodded back across goal for Carvalho to sneak in unmarked and finish confidently. They away side carried that slim lead into the first-half break.

With 65 minutes on the clock, Igor Thiago doubled the advantage for the visitors with a right-footed strike from the center of the box into the bottom left corner.

Onyeka won the ball back in midfield and quickly launched the attack. He fed Carvalho on the left, who switched it back across goal for Igor Thiago to fire past Petrovic.

Bournemouth’s night went from bad to worse in the 90th minute when Julian Araujo received a straight red card, reducing the hosts to ten men.
