Alalade Wasiu is on the brink of making history. As Kwara United prepare to face Abakaliki FC in the 2024 FA Cup Final on June 28 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

The veteran forward is determined to lift the club’s first-ever major title — and secure a coveted return to the CAF Confederation Cup, Footballrover reports.
A Defining Moment for Kwara United and Wasiu
For Alalade Wasiu, Saturday’s FA Cup final means more than just a game.
It’s a huge shot at history with Kwara United, a chance to bring home the club’s first major trophy, and the opportunity to return to the prestigious CAF Confederation Cup.

The experienced forward believes winning the final would be a defining moment for both himself and the team.
“Winning the FA Cup final would be a monumental moment. For the team, it would mean making history, bringing pride to fans, and establishing a legacy,” he told Footballrover.
“As a player, it would be an honour to be part of the squad that achieves this,” he added.
Having been part of Kwara United’s growth, Wasiu is now focused on helping the Harmony Boys achieve what no team from Kwara has done before — win a national title.
CAF Confederation Cup: The Bigger Dream Behind the Trophy
Beyond the silverware, Wasiu is motivated by the chance to represent the club on the continental stage once again.
“The chance to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup, earned by winning the final, is highly motivating,” he explained. “It offers a chance to play against top African teams, gain international exposure, and represent the club on a bigger stage.”

Having already featured in both the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup, Wasiu understands the impact continental football can have on a player’s career.
“It’s a step toward career growth, offering new opportunities and a chance to contribute to the club’s continental success,” he said.
As the countdown to June 28 begins, all roads lead to the Mobolaji Johnson Arena — and eyes on Alalade Wasiu, who hopes to lead Kwara United into the record books with a historic win and a return to Africa’s elite football stage.
