Thanks to Ethan Nwaneri, Arsenal were able to boost their title hopes with a 2-0 victory over Fulham at the Emirates Stadium, extending their unbeaten home record against the Cottagers to 32 league matches.
The Nigerian midfielder stole the spotlight, delivering a brilliant assist to help Mikel Arteta’s men stay in the race for Premier League glory, Footballrover reports.
Ethan Nwaneri’s moment of brilliance
With Arsenal needing a breakthrough in a tense first half, Ethan Nwaneri produced a moment of quality.
The 17-year-old received the ball down the right flank and expertly picked out Mikel Merino, whose deflected strike found the back of the net, leaving Fulham’s Bernd Leno wrong-footed.
The assist marked Nwaneri’s second in the Premier League this season, as the young lad continues to improve with each game.
At 18 years and 11 days old, Ethan Nwaneri is the second-youngest player in Europe’s top five leagues to register 10 goal contributions across all competitions this season (8 goals, 2 assists), trailing only Lamine Yamal (17 years, 77 days).
Despite an early setback with Gabriel Magalhães limping off injured, Arsenal remained in control.
Gabriel Martinelli’s pace caused problems for the visitors, and Martin Ødegaard came close to doubling the lead.
Fulham, however, struggled to create clear chances, failing to register a single shot on target in the opening 45 minutes.
Arsenal strengthen title hopes
After half-time, Arsenal maintained their attacking intensity. Fulham’s first real chance came when Raúl Jiménez forced a save from David Raya, but the visitors lacked cutting edge.
The home crowd erupted as Bukayo Saka made his long-awaited return from injury. After 101 days away, the forward returns and replaced Nwaneri.
And just minutes after his introduction, he made an instant impact—heading in Arsenal’s second goal after a flicked pass from Martinelli.
The victory secured an 18th clean sheet for Arteta’s side this season, while Fulham’s European aspirations suffered a setback.
It’s a huge boost to have young talents like Ethan Nwaneri as Arsenal continue chasing down Liverpool. He could prove crucial in their pursuit of silverware.
