Super Falcons player, Christy Ucheibe, made her mark on Wednesday night, igniting her team, Benfica, to a resounding victory over Apollon in the Champions League qualifiers.
The midfielder sealed the deal with her first-ever Champions League goal as Benfica dominated Apollon, securing an impressive 11-0 aggregate victory in the second leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers, Footballrover reports
Christy Ucheibe’s heroics came just 8 minutes after she stepped onto the pitch, delivering a breathtaking goal that sent the Apollon Limassol Ladies packing back to Cyprus.
Despite only featuring for 20 minutes, the 22-year-old made her sole shot count, contributing to Benfica’s commanding 4-0 win at the Benfica Campus.
Prior to this, Christy and her teammates had already triumphed in the first leg, winning 7-0 away from home.
Although Apollon Limassol Ladies managed to hold Benfica at bay during the first half, they couldn’t withstand the second-half onslaught as the party began in earnest for Benfica.
Leticia Almeida opened the floodgates in the 56th minute, and Kika Nazareth added a second goal just nine minutes later.
In the 70th minute, Marie-Yasmine Alidou d’Anjou extended the lead to 3-0 before Nigerian sensation Christy Ucheibe sealed the deal eight minutes later.

The Super Falcons Stars are proudly flying Nigeria’s flag high in Europe.
Meanwhile, Nigerians are hopeful that Benfica won’t face Paris FC Women, where Chiamaka is delivering outstanding performances and maintaining clean sheets week after week.
With a guaranteed spot in this year’s Champions League showdown, Christy Ucheibe and her teammates will now shift their focus to their league matches, with Famalicao up next.
