Nigerian centre-back Chidozie Awaziem has officially joined Major League Soccer (MLS) side FC Cincinnati, expressing his excitement about joining a club with such a passionate fanbase.
The former Boavista defender signed a one-year deal with the option for two more, bringing a wealth of European experience to the Orange and Blue, Footballrover reports.
Speaking to the clubâs official website, the Enugu-born defender shared his excitement for joining FC Cincinnati.

The Super Eagles defender, who boasts nearly 300 professional appearances and 33 caps for the Nigerian national team, revealed that the clubâs passionate fanbase and their growing stature played a crucial role in his decision to make the move.
“I see the love the fans and everybody has for soccer,” he said.
He added that he has been watching all the games Cincinnati had been playing and that this had motivated him greatly to be part of the team and to also experience what it was like to be a player for FC Cincinnati, representing such a wonderful and amazing club.

The 27-year-old joins fellow countryman Obinna Nwobodo at FC Cincinnati, forming a Nigerian core in the MLS.
Both players hail from Enugu, Nigeria.
The Nigerian international will be eligible to play for FC Cincinnati once his P-1 visa is processed.
Awaziem will be looking to make his debut for the club in the upcoming League Cup match against Club QuerĂŠtaro on August 1 at TQL Stadium.
With his experience and passion, he is poised to bolster FC Cincinnatiâs defensive line.
