Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem delivered a brilliant assist to inspire FC Cincinnati to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Minnesota United in their MLS clash on Thursday.
Although the 27-year-old Nigerian defender didn’t secure a clean sheet, his solid performance at the back played a key role in Cincinnati’s hard-fought win at Allianz Field, Footballrover reports.
Awaziem now has two assists in just four matches for the Major League Soccer side.
His inspiring moment came in the 34th minute, after a tightly contested start to the game.

Awaziem delivered a beautifully weighted pass that cut through seven players, finding Japanese forward Yuya Kubo, who made no mistake in calmly slotting the ball into the bottom left corner.
Just before halftime, Kubo returned the favour, setting up Luca Orellano to double Cincinnati’s lead, putting them 2-0 ahead at the break.

The second half saw Minnesota fight back with Kelvin Yeboah pulling one back, but Cincinnati held firm to secure all three points.
It was a tense affair, with Cincinnati edging the contest.
They enjoyed 54% of the ball, registering 12 goal attempts with seven on target, while Minnesota had 11 attempts with five on target.
This win extends Cincinnati’s unbeaten streak to three matches, following their 4-1 thrashing of CF Montreal and a goalless draw with Columbus Crew.
