Senegal Clinches Group L Leadership with 1-1 Draw Against Benin

The AFCON defending Champions, Senegal, took the lead in the 43rd minute of the first half through Abdoulaye Seck.

Rachid Moumini, with an assist from Nigerian-born Beninese player Junior Olaitan, equalized for the host in the 78th minute of the second half.

The match saw Beninese football icon, Stephane Sessegnon, playing for only 12 minutes as he substituted Douko Dodo in the 78th minute of the second half.

With this away victory, Senegal secures an unassailable leadership of the group with 13 points after five rounds of matches.

Mozambique occupies the second place in the group with 4 points after 4 matches, while Rwanda is third with 3 points after three matches.

Benin Republic sits in the last position with 3 points after five rounds of matches.

In Group K, the match between Bafana Bafana of South Africa and the Atlas Lions of Morocco ended with a 2-1 victory for the host.

Monir El Kajoul scored an early goal for South Africa in the 5th minute of the first half. Zakhele Lepasa increased the lead to 2-0 for Bafana Bafana in the 48th minute of the second half, while Chelsea winger and Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech reduced the tally to 1-2 for his country.

South Africa tops Group L with 7 points after 4 rounds of matches, while Morocco is in second place with 6 points after three matches.

Liberia occupies the last position with a point after three matches.

In Group J, the host, Equatorial Guinea, humbled Tunisia 1-0 to lead the group with 12 points after five rounds of matches.

Emilo Nsue scored the lone goal in the 85th minute of the second half, putting smiles on the faces of Equatorial Guinea fans.
