Senegalese forward, Boulaye Dia, exploited a 41st minute first half defensive blunder by the Qatari defence to score his country’s first goal of 2022 World Cup tournament.

The referee, Antonio Mateu, had earlier in 33rd minute of the first half ignored a penalty call after Senegalese defender, Ismaila Sarr hacked down a menacing Qatari attacker, Akram Afif.

Senegal bounced back to a 2-0 lead in 41st minute of the first half with a well taken corner kick by Ismail Jakobs, which was perfectly headed home by Famara Diedhiou.

Qatar’s Mohammed Muntari reduced the tally to 1-2 in the 77th minute of the second half after receiving a brilliant right wing pass from Ishmeal Mohammed.

Senegalese substitute, Ahmedu Bamba Dieng netted the third goal for his team in the 84th minute of the second half of the match to guarantee the French Speaking West African Side their first three points of 2022 Qatar World Cup.

As Senegal scored the second, it looked like this one was over, but the hosts saw a glimmer of hope when Muntari scored β€” however, Bamba Dieng responded 6 minutes later.
