Bayelsa United Football Club has confirmed the departure of their highly rated midfielder, Garando Tekena, to Nigeria Premier League champions, Rangers International.

In a statement released by the club on Thursday morning, Bayelsa United confirmed Tekena’s exit, wishing him well in his new endeavour, Footballrover reports.

We can confirm the departure of our midfielder Tekena Garando to league champions Enugu Rangers Int’l. We wish you well in your new club,” the club wrote. 

This comes after Enugu Rangers completed discussions and signed Garando Tekena and Anayor Ogbonna to improve the team for the upcoming season.

Tekena, a sharp midfielder, arrives from Bayelsa United, while his counterpart Anayor Ogbonna dumped relegated Gombe United to move to the Coal City side.

The duo have both signed on to defend the Flying Antelopes‘ badge for the upcoming season.

The NPFL champions officially announced the transfer of the players in a statement on their social media pages.

The Rangers press statement reported that the scouting team and coaching crew had shortlisted both players for possible additions to the squad being assembled by coach Fidelis Ilechukwu with the aim of making a positive impact in the coming season.

Rangers will be representing Nigeria in the CAF Champions League after winning the 2023–24 NPFL season, and they are seriously working to strengthen the squad ahead of the competition.
