Super Eagles forward Anayo Iwuala extended his brilliant scoring streak in the Kuwaiti Premier League, but his goal wasn’t enough to save Al-Arabi SC from a narrow 2–1 defeat to Al-Nasr SC on Sunday evening.
Iwuala was once again the spark for Al-Arabi at the Sabah Al-Salem Stadium, delivering a composed finish in the 26th minute to cancel out an early strike from Libyan midfielder Almuetasim Allafi, who had put Al-Nasr ahead barely a minute into the match, Footballrover reports.
Anayo Iwuala Strikes Again in Heartbreaking Outing
The Nigerian forward’s equaliser ensured the first half ended level, with both sides showing flashes of attacking intent.
Iwuala looked lively throughout, constantly drifting into pockets of space and linking play for the visitors.
Late Blow Denies Al-Arabi the Points
After the break, both teams pushed hard in search of a winner. Al-Arabi came close through set pieces and quick breaks, but Al-Nasr’s defence held firm.
The decisive moment arrived in the 89th minute when Abdulrahman Al-Rashidi found the net to hand the hosts all three points.
Despite the loss, Iwuala’s goal marked his third consecutive game on the scoresheet, taking his tally to five goals in five matches across all competitions.
His form has been a major boost for Al-Arabi’s attack this season, as he remains one of the most consistent performers in the Kuwaiti league.
The result ended Al-Arabi’s unbeaten start to the campaign after four wins and two draws in seven outings, but they still sit second on the table with 14 points, firmly in the title race heading into the international break.
