Rivers United secured a crucial victory against Remo Stars on a Thursday afternoon, redeeming themselves from their narrow season opener loss, courtesy of goals from Alex Oyowah and Andy Okpe.

The Pride of Rivers managed to score a goal in both the first and second halves, sealing a 2-0 win over the Sky Blue Stars at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
This match had been rescheduled due to Rivers United’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The game started on a strong note for both teams, with the Port Harcourt team earning a penalty in the 11th minute after a Remo Stars defender handled the ball in the box.
Forward Alex Oyowah converted the penalty in the 14th minute, giving the home team the lead and their first league goal of the season.
Stanley Eguma’s team maintained their slender lead until the 90th minute when former Remo Stars striker, Andy Okpe, scored against his former club, securing a convincing 2-0 victory for Rivers United.
This win, accompanied by a clean sheet, provided three valuable points for Rivers United, allowing them to bounce back from their earlier setback against Niger Tornadoes.
In their next league fixture, the Port Harcourt-based club will host Kwara United on Sunday, while Remo Stars will face Bayelsa United away on the same day.
