Bendel Insurance Football Club has officially announced the signing of Ezekiel Tamara ahead of the highly anticipated Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The former Kwara United star put pen to paper on a two-year deal that will keep him with the Benin Arsenals until 2025, with the transfer fee remaining undisclosed.
Tamara’s arrival at Bendel Insurance comes after a successful medical examination, and the talented midfielder is set to earn an impressive monthly salary of over N600,000 during his tenure with the club.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder garnered significant attention in the transfer market after leaving Shooting Stars at the end of the 2022-23 NPFL season.
Prominent NPFL sides, including former champions Rivers United and the reigning champions Enyimba, were both keen to secure his services.
However, Tamara made the decision to reject their offers in favor of joining Bendel Insurance.
In an exclusive interview with Footballrover, Tamara shed light on his decision-making process.
He expressed that Bendel Insurance’s club vision resonated deeply with him, and he was highly impressed by their ambitious plans for the future.
The young midfielder stated;
“I had offers from other teams, but I had already given my word to Bendel Insurance because I believe in their vision.”
Tamara’s excitement about joining Bendel Insurance was evident, as he highlighted the club’s rich history and prestigious reputation.
He firmly believes that this move will propel him to the next level in his football career.
“I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter with Bendel Insurance. It’s a team with a rich history and pedigree, and I am confident that I can achieve great things here,” Tamara remarked passionately.
The signing of Ezekiel Tamara adds further strength to Bendel Insurance’s squad ahead of the 2023-24 NPFL season and the upcoming Federation Cup.
He joins fellow high-profile player Kelly Kester, and together, they are expected to be key contributors to the team’s success.
In addition to domestic competitions, Bendel Insurance is also preparing to face ASO Chlef of Algeria in the CAF Confederation Cup later this month, presenting an exciting opportunity for Tamara to showcase what he’s made of on the continental stage.
