According to a recent ranking by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), Egypt’s Al Ahly has been crowned the best footballing club in Africa.

The Egyptian team, who won the CAF Champions League in 2020–21, is still Africa’s finest and ranks 19th in the world, ahead of Raja CA Casablanca and Algerian CR Belouizdad.

Rivers United, the current league leader in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), were also included. IFFHS ranked the Stanley Eguma team as Africa’s seventeenth greatest team in the top 20.

Rivers United was named the best team in Nigeria, the 17th best team in Africa, and the 201st best team in the world by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

No other Nigerian team made the top 20 in the latest IFFHS Africa football/soccer clubs ranking, which covers the period 1st April 2021 – 31st March 2022 and is updated after matches played on 10th April 2022.
