Rivers United goalkeeper, Sochima Victor, has given fans a glimpse into Coach Stanley Eguma’s motivating words in anticipation of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round reverse fixture against Etoile Filante.
The showdown is set to take place at the 40,000 capacity Stadium in Rivers State, a contest that has everyone on the edge of their seats.
According to the shot-stopper, the team is determined to win their forthcoming CAF Cup match, adding that everyone is in a good mood and giving it their all.
“We are all in high spirits, everyone is ready to go. We are prepared, we’ve put in the shift and we are working hard in the field of play to execute our game plan on Sunday,” Victor proclaimed.
The player spoke optimistically about their previous encounter in Yamoussoukro and what Stanley Eguma had informed them prior to their match on Sunday.
“Our coach has told us not to relent on the result we got there [in Yamoussoukro]; it’s going to be a different ball game here [in Port Harcourt]. So we’ll do everything to win.”
Recalling the first leg, which saw Rivers United secure a goalless draw against Etoile Filante de Quagadougou in Yamoussoukro, the goalkeeper says that the team is determined to bring their A-game to claim victory on home turf and continue their journey in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Victor also acknowledged the passionate fan base in River State, saying,
“We have passionate fans here in River State and all of them believe in Rivers United as a club. They’ve tasted what it means to be champions.”
