Unfortunately, no African team made it to this stage, as Asian, European, and South American countries secured the four available slots.

Tonight at Estadio Ciudad de la Plata, Italy will face off against South Korea at 6:30 p.m., while Uruguay will take on the giant killers and surprise semifinalist, Israel, at 10:00 p.m. Nigerian time, in a bid to secure the final slots of the tournament.

To reach this stage, Israel defeated Uzbekistan 1-0, Italy overcame England 2-1, Uruguay triumphed over Tunisia 1-0, and South Korea defeated Ecuador 2-0 in the round of 16 on May 30, 2023.

In the quarterfinals held on June 3, Israel pulled off a stunning 3-2 victory over tournament favorites Brazil, Italy emerged victorious with a 3-1 win against Colombia, South Korea secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against the sole African representatives Nigeria, and Uruguay completed the semifinal pairings with a convincing 2-0 win over the highly-rated United States of America.

As the stage is set for tonight’s semifinal clashes at Estadio Ciudad de la Plata, La Plata, Argentina, football enthusiasts around the world should keep an eye on rising stars such as Dor Turgeman, Anan Khalalili, and Kevin Marcedo from Israel’s U-20 team.

For Italy, standout players include Matteo Pratti, Cesare Casadei, Tommaso Baldanzi, and Francisco Pio Esposito.

South Korea’s key players to watch are Seung-Won Lee, Young-Jun Lee, Bae Juo-Ho, Chang-woo Park, and Choi Seik Hyun, who played a heroic role against Nigeria in the quarterfinals.

After 90 minutes of regulation time in the two semifinal matches, football fans worldwide may witness an Italy vs. Uruguay or South Korea vs. Israel final showdown in the U-20 Men’s World Cup.
