Victor Osimhen, the reigning CAF Player of the Year, has assured fans of Galatasaray that his injury scare during their 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa in Turkish Super Lig is nothing to worry about.
The Nigerian forward, who scored twice in the first half, was forced to leave the game at halftime after feeling some discomfort, Footballrover reports.
His absence proved costly as Galatasaray collapsed late in the game, conceding two goals to let a comfortable 3-1 lead slip away.
Despite the disappointing result, Osimhen remains upbeat, sending a strong message to the fans.
“Dear Galatasaray fans, your support means the world to us, and we won’t stop fighting to make you all proud. Thank you for the cheers and the incredible love. We are just starting,” he wrote on his social media status.
Osimhen confirms injury is not serious, eases Galatasaray fans’ fears
While the 3-3 draw was a tough pill to swallow, Osimhen also provided a sense of relief by confirming that his injury is not serious.
“I do not have a serious injury,” he revealed through the club’s website.
The striker explained that he had felt uncomfortable and decided to alert both his coach and Mauro Icardi before the second half.
Concerned about how his absence might affect the team, Osimhen still made the difficult decision to be substituted, hoping to avoid aggravating his condition.
Galatasaray’s late collapse frustrates Osimhen
Osimhen’s first-half performance was a brilliant one, with his brace putting Galatasaray in control early on.
However, his departure seemed to have deflated the team, and they conceded two late goals, ultimately settling for a 3-3 draw.
Osimhen admitted to being frustrated by the result, noting that football is like that sometimes—you play well but don’t always get the result you deserve.
While the result stung, Osimhen remains optimistic about the future, vowing to come back stronger and lead the team in the next game.
“It’s a great honour to have scored a brace in today’s game, but I’m disappointed that we couldn’t secure the win. We gave everything, and I’m sure we will come back stronger as a team,” Osimhen concluded.
