Victor Osimhen continued to shine for Galatasaray, delivering his third assist in as many matches during their emphatic victory over PAOK in their Europa League game at Rams Park.
In Wednesday’s contest, Osimhen set up the second goal, leading his side to a 3-1 win on Wednesday evening, Footballrover reports.
Osimhen’s impressive assist streak
The Napoli loanee has made a habit of creating opportunities, contributing assists in every match since joining Galatasaray.
His assist tally began with a crucial setup in their 3-1 victory against Gaziantep, followed by another in a similarly commanding win over Fenerbahce, culminating in his latest gem against PAOK.
The match kicked off with immediate action, as Galatasaray wasted no time making their presence felt.
Within just 20 seconds, Osimhen soared to meet a cross, narrowly missing the target as his header sailed over the bar.
The defending Süper Lig champions dominated the opening exchanges, and captain Kaan Ayhan came close to scoring with a powerful shot at the back post, only to be thwarted by the agile Dominik Kotarski.
Osimhen was once again in the mix, firing a close-range shot that was brilliantly blocked by Kotarski, who then had to spring into action again to deny a fierce strike from Gabriel Sara.
As the first half drew to a close, PAOK nearly capitalised on a defensive lapse, with Giannis Konstantelias through on goal thanks to a superb pass.
However, Güvenç reacted swiftly to deny the visitors a potential opener.
Dominance on display as Galatasaray maintains unbeaten streak
The second half brought quick joy for Galatasaray as Osimhen’s header from a corner was deflected into the net by Baba Rahman, giving the home side a well-deserved lead.
Barış Alper Yılmaz had a chance to extend the advantage but his header was comfortably saved by Kotarski.
PAOK struck back in the 67th minute when Konstantelias found the equaliser after a fortunate rebound.
However, Galatasaray responded swiftly, with Osimhen assisting Yunus Akgün, who struck fiercely past the goalkeeper to restore their lead just nine minutes later.
From that point on, Galatasaray maintained control of the match, with Mauro Icardi adding the finishing touch deep into injury time, sealing the victory at 3-1.
With this win, Osimhen and his teammates have now secured five consecutive victories, remaining unbeaten in their last five matches.
