Bayer Leverkusen’s recent clash against Düsseldorf in the DFB-Pokal witnessed the long-awaited return of the Super Eagles forward, Footballrover reports.

Boniface, who had been sidelined since December 2023 due to an adductor injury, finally graced the field for Die Werkself in their encounter against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Wednesday night.

The 23-year-old underwent surgery in January, missing out on numerous matches for both club and country, including the Super Eagles’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

In a dominating 4-0 victory over second-division side Düsseldorf in the DFB-Pokal semi-final at the Bay Arena, Boniface made his presence felt by replacing Patrick Schick in the 66th minute.
