Tolu Arokodare is caught in a frustrating transfer deadlock. The Super Eagles and KRC Genk striker was tipped for a big move this summer, but as the window winds down, his Premier League dream remains just that—a dream.

After being promised a transfer and a fresh start, the 24-year-old finds himself still playing second fiddle in Belgium, waiting for clarity on his future, Footballrover reports.
Transfer Frustration Mounts for Tolu Arokodare
Arokodare’s time at Genk has been far from straightforward this season.
The Nigerian striker has been second choice to South Korea’s Hyeon-gyu Oh, who has been guaranteed the starting role ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The plan was for Arokodare to move to a bigger club, but so far, nothing has materialised.

The Nigerian international came off the bench against Standard Liege to score his first goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough to stop Genk’s poor run—Thorsten Fink’s men are yet to win after three league games.
Speaking to Voetbal Krant, Arokodare admitted the team tried different approaches but still conceded two unfortunate goals.
– “We have been good from the beginning… There are still many games to play,” he said.
Premier League Ambition Still Burns Bright
Despite interest from Atalanta, Stuttgart, Benfica, and Borussia Dortmund, the Genk striker’s biggest wish is to play in England.
– “Everyone wants to play in the Premier League, me too,” Arokodare revealed.
He added that while he craves top-flight football, what matters most is playing well and being appreciated—just as he is at Genk.
Rumours of a move persist, but Arokodare remains in the dark.

– “I can’t say anything about it… You hear rumours, I hear rumours, but have you heard something concrete?” he said.
The uncertainty has taken its toll. Arokodare admits it’s “very frustrating” not knowing if he will leave this season or next.
He tries to stay calm, even when his mind races, crediting friends and loved ones for helping him remain mentally steady.
With just 63 minutes of football played this season, the Nigerian forward is eager for a breakthrough—whether in Belgium or on the grand stage of the Premier League.
