As CHAN Eagles prepare for a decisive showdown later tomorrow, the team’s head coach, Eric Chelle, has made it clear that Remo Stars form the backbone of his squad.

Speaking ahead of the Sudan clash, Chelle defended his choice, stressing that top teams worldwide often rely on the best clubs in their countries for national representation, Footballrover reports.

During Monday’s media interaction, Chelle pointed to examples from Sudan, South Africa, and Morocco, whose national teams are also dominated by players from their top domestic clubs.
— “Remo Stars are the best team in Nigeria, and we try to bring the best players to this tournament,” he explained.
The Super Eagles team B will be facing Sudan on Tuesday, 6 PM Nigeria time at Amman Stadium in Zanzibar, Tanzania, in a must-win second group match of the 2024 African Nations Championship.

Sudan Clash: A Must-Win for the Eagles
Chelle highlighted the urgency of the game, noting that the team’s tournament hopes depend on avoiding defeat.
– “It’s a big game; it’s an important game (vs Sudan). We need to win tomorrow, and after that we will see,” the coach said.
The home-based Eagles opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 loss to defending champions Senegal last Tuesday, making this Sudan encounter critical for survival in the group stage.

– “To win this game will be very good for the team; it will give us the possibility to go past the group stage,” he added.
Nigeria must secure all three points to keep their qualification hopes alive and push towards the knockout round.
