Racing Genk forward Tolu Arokodare has earned his first-ever invitation to the Super Eagles camp, marking a major milestone in his career.
The 23-year-old, who has been in red-hot form in Belgium, is set to join Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Footballrover reports.
However, despite the excitement, Arokodare admits he is still processing the emotions of this life-changing opportunity.
Tolu Arokodare’s form earns him a place in Super Eagles camp
Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle handed Arokodare his maiden call-up after his dominant displays in the Jupiler Pro League.
The Genk striker, who has outscored top Belgian forwards this season, was chosen over more established names like Cyriel Dessers and Paul Onuachu.
Arokodare justified his selection with yet another goal, helping Genk secure a 2-1 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise on Saturday.
His 17 goals in 30 appearances make him the league’s leading scorer, ahead of Adriano Bertaccini and Kasper Dolberg, who both have 14 goals.
“I still don’t know how to feel” – Arokodare on his call-up
Overwhelmed with emotions, Arokodare described his feelings as a mix of joy and disbelief.
Speaking to Voetbalnieuws after Saturday’s game, he shared his excitement about joining the Super Eagles squad in Kigali.
“I still don’t know how to feel. It’s a mix of only great feelings for me and my family. I can’t wait to put on that shirt. Tomorrow (Sunday) I’m leaving.”
With the World Cup qualifiers approaching, Arokodare will compete with Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and Ademola Lookman for a place in the starting lineup.
His impressive form gives him a strong chance of making an impact for Nigeria on the international stage.
